Access control and intercom installation
Fobs, cards, phones and video intercoms for strata buildings, offices and commercial sites. OwlGuard installs Ubiquiti UniFi Access systems that make it easy to add or remove a user, see who came in, and manage doors from your phone.
What we install
- UniFi Access readers for fobs, cards, PIN codes and mobile phones
- Video intercoms and entry stations for front doors, lobbies and gates
- Door hardware including electric strikes, maglocks, request-to-exit devices and door position sensors
- Access for parkade gates, amenity rooms, bike rooms, storage and service rooms
- Integration with UniFi Protect cameras, so door events can be checked against video
Why buildings switch
Lost fobs, handled in seconds
Disable a lost or unreturned fob straight away instead of re-keying or replacing locks.
Know who came in
Every entry is logged by person, door and time.
Schedules that fit
Set amenity hours, trades access and delivery windows for each group.
Visitor entry
Answer the intercom from a phone and let visitors in remotely.
Replacing an older fob or buzzer system
Many buildings run an aging fob or buzzer system that's costly to service and hard to manage. We'll look at the door hardware, wiring and existing credentials on site, then propose a migration that can often be phased door by door so the building always has working entry.
Life safety comes first
Locked doors still have to release properly for exiting and fire safety. We choose locking hardware with that in mind and coordinate with your fire alarm contractor wherever a door needs to tie into the alarm system.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can we keep our existing door hardware?
Sometimes. Electric strikes and maglocks in good condition can often be reused. We check each door during the site walk and tell you what can stay.
Can people use their phones instead of fobs?
Yes. UniFi Access supports mobile credentials alongside fobs and cards, so you can use both.
What happens if the internet goes down?
Doors keep working. UniFi Access runs on equipment at the building, so credentials and schedules carry on without internet. Remote management resumes when the connection is back.
How are users added and removed?
Through the UniFi Access app or web portal. We set up admin accounts for the property manager, council or office manager and walk them through it at handoff.
Is the installation covered by a warranty?
Yes. Our workmanship is covered for one year from completion, and the equipment carries the manufacturer's warranty. OwlGuard is fully insured and WorkSafeBC registered.
